Ooooh. I like it. Very “englishy” and very specific, and it speaks to the unmarked whiteness of prior generations of speculative and dystopian fiction. You’ll need to find some research that looks broadly at the genre, so you can establish a “norm” that Butler revises. Might be a bit challenging, but I bet you can find some good stuff with some careful searching.
