Hyperemphathy seems like a good topic to focus on and seems “right-sized” for a 15-pp essay. But the second sentence takes us out of “Englishy” territory, I think, since the novel does not thematize animal cruelty or factory farming in this way. Is there a way to take the theme of hyperempathy, perhaps after doing a few searches to see what’s been written on the subject, and revise the question to meet more squarely what the novel does with that idea?
